Reports to:  Assistant Principal

 

Job Purpose Statement/s: The Activities Director will provide leadership in planning and implementing student activities. In coordination with school administrators and the leadership team, the Activities Director will develop a year long calendar of events. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

Student Leadership & Instruction

    • Teach Leadership and/or ASB classes as assigned, developing and implementing curriculum that promotes leadership development, civic engagement, student involvement, and school spirit.
    • Coordinate and supervise student government, ASB, leadership classes, and student leadership programs.
    • Advise and mentor student leaders in planning, organizing, and implementing school activities, events, service projects, and school-wide initiatives.
    • Plan and administer student elections, including ASB officers, Student Council representatives, and Homecoming/Prom court selection processes.

Activities and School-Wide Programming

  • Plan, organize, and oversee a comprehensive program of student activities, events, and assemblies.
  • Oversee dance and cheer programs, including coordination of coaches, advisors, performances, competitions, and related activities.
  • Coordinate school-wide spirit events, dances, recognition events, and special programs.
  • Coordinate and support student participation in signature events, including the Rose Festival (student selection, preparation, and logistics).
  • Coordinate and oversee Orientation and other student transition activities.
  • Manage & maintain student reward and tracking systems (i.e. 5-Star)

Student Government & ASB Operations

  • Manage Associated Student Body (ASB) funds in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Oversee fundraising activities for ASB, student clubs, and student organizations.
  • Provide oversight for student club operations in alignment with school and district expectations.

Senior and Signature Events

  • Assist with planning and execution of commencement/graduation ceremonies and related senior activities. 
  • Coordinate senior events and other culminating experiences.
  • Serve as liaison to the Senior All-Night Party committee.

Operations, Communications and Partnerships

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the school’s annual activities master calendar.
  • Serve as liaison to vendors for student-related services (e.g., class rings, photography, graduation materials).
  • Coordinate student and staff photos.
  • Review and approve school-wide posters, announcements, and promotional materials in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Serve as liaison to parent and community organizations, including the Dads Club and booster/support groups.
  • Attend district, league, and regional Activities Director meetings as assigned.

School Culture and Climate

  • Foster student engagement, school spirit, and a positive school culture through inclusive programming and leadership opportunities.
  • Support and collaborate with dance and cheer programs in partnership with coaches and advisors.

Additional Responsibilities:

 

Assist building leadership with accreditation processes as needed.

 

Other Job Functions:

 

            Other duties as directed by the principal.

 

Job Requirements – Qualifications:

 

5 years teaching experience at the secondary level preferred

 

Skills, Knowledge and/ or Abilities and Essential Physical Requirements:

Develop, implement, and assess curriculum that supports student growth and achievement; maintain accurate records; establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and members of the school community; and meet established schedules and deadlines.

 

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and movement between work locations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Requires effective verbal communication, hearing, and sufficient visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision to perform assigned duties. Work is performed in a school environment with regular exposure to the noise and activity associated with students and staff.

 

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree

 

Licenses and/ or Testing Required:  Appropriate Teacher Standards and Practices Commission license or administrative license, Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance, and valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year according to the current contract and school calendar. 

 

Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of License Staff Personnel. 

 

David Douglas School District Drug Testing and Criminal Background check

 

Per district policy all offers of employment shall be contingent upon the successful passing of a district required drug test and criminal background check.  David Douglas School District’s Human Resources will designate where and when the testing will be conducted.  The offer of employment will be withdrawn from candidates who test positive for drugs.
