|                                                       POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT                                                       2020 - 2021 SCHOOL YEAR   DATE:                      DECEMBER 1, 2020 TO:                          ALL DISTRICT PERSONNEL FROM:                     CANDY WALLACE, ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT RE:                          JOB OPENING – CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER - NORTH POWELLHURST   This position closes at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2020.   CHILD CARE SPECIALIST    Schedule:                8 hours per day / 9 months per year / 193 Days per year Class:                      9, starts at $16.25 per hour Starting Date:          Pending school opening   POSITION PURPOSE   To be responsible for the general supervision and management of infants, toddlers, or preschool age children and to assist the Director in providing a quality program that responds to the community's need for child care, prepares young children for school, and facilitates an in-school career experience for high school students.   NATURE AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES   
Conduct observations documenting children’s strengths and areas for growth and assess child’s academic learning and/or skills for the purpose of feedback to parents, regarding the child’s progress, expectations and goalsProvide, plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom curriculum and environmentPromote and encourage parent involvementManage child behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment (PBIS)Collaborate with assistant to deliver daily curriculumEnforce school rules and Administrative Regulations and Board PoliciesIncrease knowledge in their child’s growth and development, through communication and conferences.Assess child’s academic learning and/or skills for the purpose of feedback to parents, regarding the child’s progress, expectations and goalsImplement an Individual education plan for childrenPreform other duties, as assigned, such as portfolios {scrapbooks} for each child, graduation at the end of the year and working over my regular daily hours when needed or asked.Conduct two home visits a year and two parent teacher conferencesMaintain and update confidential recordsResponsible for continuing education classes to maintain qualifications for positionAttend all required meetingsPerforms other duties, as assigned   QUALIFICATIONS   
Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development/Early Intervention preferredHave knowledge and understanding of the growth and development of preschool childrenStep 3 or higher of the Oregon Registry and one of the following required:
Preschool CDA credential; ORMust obtain a CDA within two years of date of hireA valid First Aid card and Pediatric CPR required as well as a valid Food Handlers Card     ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS   
Moderate degree of physical stamina with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and kneeling.Able to move freely to various locations within a classroom to provide assistance.Exposure to noise and activity of a classroom setting.Ability to provide for the identified physical needs of children, such as toilet assistance, feeding, therapy, and other related needs.   The David Douglas School District welcomes applications from candidates that expand the District's diversity.   Multi-Cultural preferred.
