Job Description
IAs needed for K-5 Summer School:
Program Dates: Monday -Thursdays, July 12th through August 5th, 2021.
No school on Fridays
Required Planning: July 7th and 8th - 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (Staff Meeting/Planning)
Closing Tasks: August 2nd-5th – 4 extra hours
Mon-Thurs IA hours: 8:30am to 1:45 pm
Pay: Hourly Rate
$16.90
Staffing Needed:
- Instructional assistants with experience and skills to support students with moderate to complex disabilities.
- IAs will assist teachers with transitioning students from the previous grade level to the upcoming grade level by engaging in DDSD developed project-based learning units.
- Applicants will be committed to student safety and follow all COVID guidelines.
- DDSD IAs will be given preference. Applicants must be able to commit to the summer school schedule.
Job Purpose Statement/s:
To assist teachers in instructional activities, assisting students with special needs to help them achieve academic, social, emotional and independent skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Builds students’ ability to communicate through consistent use of communication methods.
- Meets students' physical, communication and instructional needs by using adaptive equipment and technology and research based strategies.
- Implements social skills instruction and behavior supports specially designed by the teacher and support staff utilizing research based intervention strategies.
- Supports students’ development of self regulation ability through the skillful use of sensory tools.
- Performs health tasks and implements individualized protocols, as delegated by the medical staff and assigned by the classroom teacher.
- Duties may include providing for students' personal care needs (i.e. wheelchair transition, bathroom needs, recording medical and personal care needs, physical movement and lifting of students, etc.).
- Assist in supervision of students in the classroom as well as other settings on campus.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
