Job Title: David Douglas High School Head Wrestling Coach
Supervisor: DDHS Athletic Director
Subordinates: Varsity Assistant/JV Coach/Girls Coach


The Varsity Wrestling Head Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director and has the primary responsibility for administering all levels of the DDHS wrestling program. The successful candidate will be committed to the mission and goals of David Douglas High School and follow all OSAA procedures.


Responsibilities:
• Has full responsibility for the overall supervision and development of the DDHS Wrestling program, including assistant coaches and the junior-varsity and C-level teams.
• In coordination with the Athletic Director, plans and implements the scheduling of team activities, tryouts, practices, game plans, and summer activities.
• Create and implement workouts/drills and run effective practices.
• Create an offseason/summer program that fosters player/team improvement.
• Responsible for the safety and security of the team before, during, and after events and travelling to and from events.


Requirements:
• Supportive of the mission and goals of the David Douglas Athletic Department.
• Wrestling coaching/competing experience with a solid knowledge of the fundamentals and strategies of high-school Wrestling.
• A proven, verifiable record of having been part of a competitive Wrestling tradition.
• A proven, verifiable record of placing appropriate emphasis on academic excellence, good sportsmanship, and character development.
• Must be able and willing to work on and maintain Wrestling rooms and all wrestling facilities
• A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and administration.
• A demonstrated ability to create and implement effective practices, drills, and workouts.
• A demonstrated ability to manage effective game strategy and implementation.
• Must complete all OSAA and DDSD coaching certifications.
• Follow all procedures of OSAA and Mount Hood Conference requirements.
• CPR and First Aid certified or able to obtain upon hire.


All new hired coaches will need to complete the following prior to employment:
1. NFHS Certification
2. First Aid / CPR Card
3. District Background check
4. Completion of OSAA Concussion Test
5. Completion of OSAA Steroid Test
6. NFHS Guide to Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention Course
7. Completion of School District and OSAA paperwork
